Political Philosophy Paper Topics

Political Philosophy Paper TopicsTwo highly respected scholars - Thomas Hobbes and Karl Marx - have each written political philosophy papers topics. They are worth reading because of the things they have to say about the state of the world today.Thomas Hobbes was born in France in the year 1389 and died around 1655. He is best known for his book Leviathan, in which he describes a city under the rule of the King of England. He is considered one of the most influential philosophers of the period.Hobbes believed that man has the nature of being a hunter. This is evidenced by the fact that man doesn't participate in raising the crops needed for food, as the soil is consumed by the plants. He also felt that man is naturally tribal, as his work force is divided into tribal bands. His political philosophy is based on his observations about the behavior of humans in groups. Hobbes saw that in groups there was less power than there was in single people. This is because in groups people come to understand their own circumstances better and tend to be less self-interested.Karl Marx, though born in Germany in 1818, became a socialist revolutionary in his early years. In his early days he attended public schools and never finished high school. In fact, his parents wanted him to follow in their footsteps. This is one reason why he was able to survive the 'Putsch' rebellion.Though Hobbes might have been considered more conservative, he did end up playing a big role in influencing Marx's views of politics. Marx took Hobbes' theory of the social contract and applied it to his view of society.Because of this influence, political philosophy has become even more important today. This is because our economy is so dependent on the way we choose to organize our society.
